Timeline

1988

Born on September 9, 1988, in Dromineer, County Tipperary, Ireland. He shows an early interest in technology, starting to program at the age of 10.

2005

Wins the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition for creating a new programming language, showcasing his exceptional technical talent.

2007

Drops out of MIT after one year to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Co-founds Auctomatic with his brother John, a platform to assist eBay sellers, which they sell for $5 million in 2008, making Patrick one of Ireland’s youngest self-made millionaires.

2010

Co-founds Stripe with John Collison to solve the problems of broken payments infrastructure for online businesses. They join Y Combinator’s Winter 2010 batch and secure initial funding for Stripe.

2021

Stripe becomes one of the most valuable private companies globally, with a valuation of $95 billion. Under Patrick’s leadership, Stripe powers millions of businesses worldwide and continues to innovate in the payments and fintech space.
